Reasons for the Design

The Rugged Rosary range, seeks to provide their customers with rugged and masculine rosaries. Targeted mostly at men and service personnel, these rosaries have been made with durability in mind. Each paracord rosary is made from a single piece of paracord, leaving no weak points for the rosary to come apart. The beads are also over-sized, making it easier for big fingers and bulky gloves to handle them.
The rugged design is vastly different to most of the more common rosary designs. While other designs may be more aesthetically pleasing to some, given their jewelry inspired craftsmanship. They are more delicate then the rugged design of the paracord rosaries, and therefore more easily broken or damaged. For this very reason the Rugged Rosaries are designed to rectify this problem, by providing those of us that live a more knock about lifestyle, a more reliable and durable product. That also serves our spiritual needs.
About CordBands
Originally started out as a hobby in 2012. The original Combat Paracord rosary, was made after meeting an on-duty marine who had his rosary tied to his pack. His “Mission Rosary” was made from a thin string that was molded to the plastic beads. As the rosary broke, the marine had to repeatably tie it back together. This rendered the rosary an unsightly and unusable mess.
Inspired to make a better rosary for soldier’s, they set about developing the first of a long line of Rugged Rosaries. Every aspect of service life was considered with the design, from environmental conditions, to gear and equipment. In the end what was settled upon was as follows:
- The string/cord was replaced with camo colored parachute cord, with a breaking point of 550 pounds.
- Each rosary is made using a single piece of long cord.
- Military colors were chosen in both honor of the services men and women, as well as to keep it practical for service use.
- Larger beads were used to make it easier for soldiers with numb fingers or tactical gloves to handle.
- Split rings are used to help prevent the cross from being pulled away.
Today they continue to make each and every rosary by hand. This gives them control over the design and quality of each rosary they produce. By handcrafting their rosaries, they are also able to provide their customers with customization options as well.
